BrainAdvantage Provides Green Healthcare
BrainAdvantage recognizes the link between the environment, medicine and human health. Therefore our programs are a healthier alternative to drugs. Come in today to see how we help you be a healthier, more vibrant you.
Our Services
We offer programs for:
- Children and Teens
- Adults
- Age-Related Cognitive Decline
- Medically-Related Brain Issues
- Peak Performance
- The Well Brain to Enhance Cognitive Reserve
- Maintenance Programs
We also offer comprehensive assessments as well as medical and neuropsychological evaluations in our comfortable, private Scottsdale office.
We are one of the few Neurotherapy clinics with a fully certified staff offering a full and integrated range of services. All sessions are over-seen by our certified neurotherapist or medical doctor.
Neurotherapy sessions are relaxing and non-invasive, using a variety of technologies to help train the brain to perform at its best. Sessions are approximately 90 minutes long. Our goal is to provide you with maximum results at a reasonable price. To help keep our services affordable, we offer special packages and two payment options. We accept all major credit cards. Please see our Schedule of Fees, Health Insurance Info, and Getting Started pages for more details.
Neurotherapies
BrainAdvantage neurotherapies allow the client unique tools to promote self mastery skills. The goal of training is to teach the patient how to train the brain to improve attention, memory, cognition and the ability to focus for prolonged periods of time. This helps the patient gain a sense of self control over the body and mind. We have found that it's impossible to fix just the brain without looking at the rest of the body. For that reason, BrainAdvantage includes a medical component for "whole body" therapy plans that offer a total system solution for the patient.
- HEG Neurofeedback or Hemoencephalography,
HEG is a procedure using near infrared lights placed on the forehead that allows the user to modulate brain oxygenation and increase blood flow (perfusion) to the brain. The nIR or near infrared headband operates from the principle that more highly oxygenated blood is brighter red in color. It sends pulses of red and infrared light through the skull to the cortex beneath as the skull is not opaque, but rather translucent. By measuring the amount of red compared to infrared light that is reflected back by the cortex to the headband sensor, the headband can indicate how much oxygen is in an individual's blood.
Hemoencephalography neurofeedback has been successfully utilized to improve function in patients with a wide range of diagnoses which benefit from learning to increase activation of prefrontal areas, which are normally the most active areas of the brain. Although HEG was first used with attention issues, we have had great success with autism, TBI, depression, anxiety, Parkinson’s Disease, early to moderate Alzheimer’s and age-related cognitive decline.
- Sensory Processing Management
The Listening Program®: We are certified providers of Advanced Brain Technologies' The Listening Program®, a “clinically tested cognitive training product that maximizes human potential by improving the foundational processing abilities of the brain by way of listening to specially recorded and filtered classical music and sound effects. Over 30 years of clinical studies with neuroscience, music, acoustic, and brain research have gone into TLP's development.”
- Neuromotor Skills Training:
Motor planning and sequencing issues have been linked to various developmental, behavioral, and learning challenges. Clinical studies suggest that technologies aimed at improving these areas can produce better brain function.
By improving coordination, rhythm and timing, the individual learns to plan, sequence and process information more effectively.
At BrainAdvantage we have our own reseach-based therapies that work on these skills to improve function.
- Audio/Visual Entrainment
Using flashes of lights and pulses of tones, we can gently and safely guide the brain into various brain wave patterns to boost your mood, help with sleep, sharpen your mind and increase your level of relaxation.
- Cognitive training
Cognitive skills are “thinking” or “mental processing” skills which allow us to experience, process, understand and apply information. In order to process information adequately, we require accurate sensory input, accurate handling of the information and good expression of the desired output – whether verbal or motor activity. Cognitive skills relate to processing of information. We use various types of cognitive software for our patients. They generally cover cognitive areas including visual processing, visual and auditory processing, motor control and brain speed.
Additional Services
Nutritional and Allergy Assessment and Management We refer our clients for Nutritional and Allergy assessment when necessary.
- Group Presentations
We facilitate periodic group presentations on alternative to medication for ADHD, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Nutrition and Environmental Allergies that affect brain function.
Assessment, Evaluations and Testing
qEEG Brain Maps
Brain Maps are provided by a BCIA-certified clinician. These scans are produced with 19 EEG electrodes on the scalp. It produces a snapshot of the electrical activity in the brain. Recorded from 19-channels, the resulting EEG data is computer processed to provide a statistical analysis of brain activity. In turn, this data is presented in a visual form which show how different areas of the brain are functioning.

When applied to a database, a precise determination of whether the brain is functioning within a "normal" pattern for a persons age, sex and handedness, or if there is an issue which needs clinical attention. We refer our clients to Nancy Wigton, M.A., LPC, BCIA-EEG, QEEG-T who is certified to do qEEG Brain Maps and evaluation.
Attention Deficit Assessment These standardized assessments measure attention, focus and impulsivity and give an accurate picture to tell us if you or your child are really in the ADHD range.
Visual Convergence Assessment We test for visual convergence, which is not how well you see, but how well your eyes work together. This assessment also gages reading ability by grade level and any issues with fixations, regressions and other anomalies. These issues can be mistaken for ADHD symptoms as well as learning and behavior difficulties.
Sensory Integration Assessment These assessments measure the sensory integration processes including auditory and visual processing that underlie learning and behavior.
Cognitive Abilities Assessment
We provide standard valid and reliable Testing and Supplemental Reports for all areas of cognitive function including memory, recall, fluency (or the ability to form abstract thought) and executive function.
Neuromotor Skills Assessment These assessments measure coordination, balance, organizational skills and auditory and visual processing that affects emotional response.
